The purpose of the Native American Student Association is to promote, advance, and support Native American Student academic success, retention and social activities and to serve as an academic, cultural support system for the Native American community and the community at large.

Some of the biggest and annual events are Indigenous Peoples' Day, Native American Heritage Month, and the University of Iowa Powwow and Round Dance.
